First Installment of pirate day

So the kids came up for the weekend. It was pirate weekend. My first opportunity but the second occurance of what i think will become a family holiday at some point. Heres how it works.

First the kids get their pirate gear. eye patch, stubby sword and compass that doesn't compass.


They then find a pirate map (oddly located in the watering pale) and papa reads it to them.
luke is confused.
Then they sprint off and find the first clue on the treasure map. luke isn't confused anymore. very hesitant to go get the clue at the bottom of the whole. asks me, i refuse citing a bad back. but quickly goes into a hole in the ground via papa holding his legs. emerges very very brave.
clue two is in the chicken house. luke finds it.
and because this blog can have no more than 5 photos per post, i will finish the story later.

what i did today

drove back from provo today. i was visiting dana. pretty fun few days.

here is what driving from provo to idaho is like:

cornel west lectures listened to: 2

hot dogs consumed: 1

ounces of mt. dew consumed: 42

inches a flying quail came to my windshield: 2

miles from provo to home w/ a detour to airport: 421

depeche mode tracks listened to: 1 (enjoy the silence)

gas stops: 1

weeeeeeee.

i hope iowa has more people with more sense than their elected officials appear to have.
